Regulation #1
Don’t be an ADV Weenie.
Regulation #2
If you are considering making a complaint about the rally, rally staff, the weather, the millage, or a competitor, kindly refer to Regulation #1.
Regulation #3
All rulings by the Rally Master are final.
Regulation #4
Competitor Qualification
A: All competitors must have a valid driver’s license with a motorcycle endorsement and present said license at the rally check-in.
B: All competitors must sign the rally waiver at the rally check-in.
C: All competitors must be 18 years old or older at the time of rally check-in.
D: A maximum of one competitor and one passenger per motorcycle. An additional third passenger may be petitioned for during application if the motorcycle is lawfully equipped with a sidecar.
E: No pets on motorcycles, inside hotels, or at the awards banquet.
F: Any competitor may be disqualified for unsportsmanlike conduct by the Rally Master. Any competitor disqualified will not be welcome to enter or attend any future ADV Cannonball events.
G: All competitors are responsible for checking the official rally website each morning between 00:01 and 06:00 local time for important bulletins, start time changes, safety notices, weather notes, daily extreme checkpoint opportunities, and route or checkpoint changes. There are no printed handouts or physical bulletins for any ADV Cannonball Event.
Regulation #5
Motorcycle Qualification
A: All motorcycles must have two or three wheels.
B: All motorcycles must be lawfully licensed and insured. A valid and physical copy of the motorcycle’s registration and insurance must be presented at the rally check-in.
C: The competitor may not replace the motorcycle frame after the rally check-in.
D: Where practical and at the time of rally check-in, the motorcycle must display “rally livery” on four sides of the motorcycle. The “rally livery” must not be removed.
Regulation #6
GPX Routing
A: All official GPX routes will be published no later than 30 days before the start of the rally on the official rally website. Draft GPX routes may be published before the rally starts; it is the sole responsibility of the competitor to use the official GPX routes once published.
B: It is the sole responsibility of the competitor to understand how to download and navigate using a GPS with the rally GPX and waypoint files. The rally does not provide a GPS unit, only the GPX files.
Regulation #7
Scoring
A: The Richta Rally app will be the only way to score points.
B: The competitor must provide their own stand-alone and continuously-powered smartphone device, either Android or IOS, to run the Richta Rally app. Never use your Richta Rally smartphone for navigation or any other use during the rally.
C: Each checkpoint on a paved or dirt road that is completed and recorded by Richta Rally will be awarded 10 points.
D: “Extreme” checkpoints that are completed and recorded by Richta Rally will be awarded 21 points.
E: Each day, the first competitor to arrive and record the final checkpoint by Richta Rally will be awarded 25 points, adjusting for rally number/starting time. I.e., The shortest elapsed time.
F: The rally master may deduct 50 points for unsportsmanlike conduct, whining, or complaining. Conversely, the Rally Master may award 50 points for extraordinary sportsmanlike conduct.
G: The final tabulation of points will be published on the official rally webpage, including a breakdown of all points awarded or deducted. Every effort will be made to publish every day.
H: In the unlikely event of a points tie for the overall winner at the end of the rally, the competitor with the most "first to arrive" bonuses will be awarded the overall winner. If there is still a tie, a "sudden death, full contact, slow race" will be conducted one hour before the awards banquet at the direction of the RM.
I: No competitor shall start the rally before the “daily official start time,” plus the competitors’ assigned rally number. The start time for each day is published on the official rally website. Times are always published as “local time.” Early departure will constitute a 50-point penalty or disqualification, depending on the circumstances. There is no penalty for a late departure.
Example: The published start time for Day 03 is 08:00 Local Time, and your rally number is 8. So you would depart at 08:08 Local Time or later.
Regulation #8
Awards
A: Overall ADV Cannonball Winner Award is awarded to the competitor with the most points at the end of the rally.
B: ADV Cannonball Checkpoint Crusher Award, is awarded to any competitor that completes all paved road checkpoints, including extreme checkpoints.
C: ADV Cannonball Rough Rider Award, is awarded to any competitor that completes all dirt road checkpoints.
D: ADV Cannonball Finisher Award, is awarded to any competitor that completes the final checkpoint of the rally before the start of the awards ceremony.
E: Any other awards the Rally Master chooses.
F: Competitors are allowed to win only one award at each rally.
G: Awards may be shipped to winners after the rally.
Regulation #9
Application
A: Applications may open at any time without notice.
B: Previous entrants will be assigned lowered rally numbers and have application priority at the discretion of the Rally Master.
C: The application fee is non-refundable but can be transferred without any additional cost.
D: All competitors must submit the application form and pay the registration fee. The full entry fee must be paid in full no later than 39 days before the start of the rally. Failure to pay all entry fees no less than 39 days before the start of the rally will result in the forfeit of all fees.
Regulation #10
The Law
A: All competitors must obey all laws at all times during the rally.
Regulation #11
Self Supporting
A: No competitor shall use any resource that is unavailable to everyone at any time.
Regulation #12
Spotwalla Tracking System
A: Each competitor must always use a GPS tracking device that is compatible with SpotWalla throughout the rally.
B: Each competitor must maintain a Spotwalla account for $15 per year.
Regulation #13
EV
An electric vehicle (EV) motorcycle can petition to be exempt from Regulation 11A and Regulation 5C. If an EV motorcycle petitions to invoke these exemptions, the Rally Master must be notified at the time of check-in. However, any EV motorcycle that opts for an exemption from any regulation will not be eligible for the "Overall ADV Cannonball Winner Award" or any "first-to-arrive" bonus points. Conversely, any EV motorcycle that adheres to all regulations will be eligible for all points and awards.
