Coast-to-Coast
GPS Motorcycle RALLY

Adventure Bike Cannonball

The ADV Cannonball is a coast-to-coast motorcycle rally with an emphasis on overland GPS navigation, endurance, preparedness, self-reliance, and rider skill. Each day, competitors will leave the official hotel at specific times. Navigating by GPX track, competitors will ride on paved and optional unpaved roads to checkpoints, earning points while enjoying a highly curated and painstakingly vetted route. The first competitor to arrive at the final checkpoint will be awarded additional points each day. The competitor with the most points at the end of the rally wins. The rally organizers will award additional points for special achievements and extreme checkpoints that will be revealed throughout the event.

Each year, the route will change, and “coast-to-coast” will be used creatively for future ADV Cannonball Runs. Typically an 8-11 day ride and between 3000-4000 miles. Contact us if you have any suggestions.

Everyone is welcome on any motorcycle. There are no handicapping calculations or motorcycle classes.

This is not a race.

Self Supporting

Support crews and/or chase vehicles are not permitted.

Riders must rely on themselves or resources that anyone could use along the route. For example, popping by a motorcycle shop, ordering items online, or calling AAA is perfectly fine; however, calling a family member to bring you warmer gloves from home would be unsportsmanlike.

The Regs

For Glory or Adventure

Riders have various motivations when they decide to participate in this cannonball event. Some are driven by the desire to win, while others are simply looking to explore a carefully planned and well-vetted ADV route. Regardless of their reasons, the rewards are equally valuable.

More than half of the participants admit they do not expect to win, yet most strive to earn some form of recognition. Being part of such an event is rewarding in itself, even for those who simply follow the recommended route and gather each day at the finish line and hotel to share their war stories of the road.

Gone are the days of late nights with a highlighter, calculator, and a paper roadbook. Simply load the GPX route and checkpoints on your GPS or smartphone App and hit the road to ADV Cannonball victory. The Richta Rally app electronically tracks checkpoint scoring and daily finish/start times.

This is not a TSD rally. It is a checkpoint adventure motorcycle rally. We use a priority app for scoring, no silly photos or judging. Just crush checkpoints, and our system tabulates scores.
